McDonald Opening in Chennai
At the opening of the McDonald’s Outlet in Chennai , a very simple vegetable burger, which is normally priced @ Rs 42, was sold for a whopping Rs 400,000 on Tuesday. McDonald's auctioned its first burger and donated the proceeds to the Banyan, a city-based NGO. The successful bidder was Shiva Kumaar P R, managing director of Saravana Bhavan Holdings LLC.
It had almost waiting for a long time to open in Chennai with the first starting in grand gala fashion at Ascendas IT Park. They had also organized a press meeting ahead of the launch which was chaired by Amit Jatia, managing director. He shared his thoughts as to how they started their Indian operations and time spent in nurturing the SCM 9 Supply Chain Management. They are planning to open about 15-20 in the span of 3 to 5 years in Chennai and also looking at the markets down south like Coimbatore.
"We source fresh lettuce from Pune, Delhi, Nainital and Ooty, Cheese from Dynamix Dairies, Maharashtra, fresh buns from Bector Foods and others," he added.
