June 10th Celebrated as Iced Tea Day
The Origin of Iced Tea:
Early in the eighteenth century Englishman, Richard Blechynden, tea plantation owner set up a booth to sell hot tea at the St. Louis World Fair. At the time of the year being very hot the fair visitors were looking for quenching their thirst rather being hot. He realized the need of the visitors and converted the hot tea into ice and served it cold, which was incidentally instant hit.This was the first known use of iced tea as early as 1904.
Medicinal value:
In the olden times, people have believed that tea was presenting itself with a lot of medicinal value with broad spectrum. Modern science and research has also added credibility to some of these thoughts and identified more In some cases research is not conclusive. Regardless of the final determination as to it's value over time, drink and enjoy because there is no research to suggest that it can hurt you and it just tastes good.

1. Reduction in the heart disease
2. Cancer and tumors
3. Stomach Disorders
4. Sore throats and colds(often flavored with honey)
5. Soothing, relaxing
With the official start of summer just a few days away, the timing is perfect for National Iced Tea Day.
Maybe it has become vey hot in your locality , can serve as a timely reminder to make and enjoy your first (of many) Iced Tea drink of the season. Have it plain, add a little lemon, or sweeten it with sugar. Iced Tea is certainly a favorite summer cooler of millions of Americans and also spread across the world and become popular in Asia as well. And best of all, tea is good for your health!
