Change - Betterment or Wrong Path

Constantly we are looking at improving the lifestyle in comparison with the previous generations. We will just look back into grandpa’s generation of style of living. They were satisfied with the Old Inherited Village House with some agriculture lands they had either possessed or be way of inheritance. The next generation underwent a change of thought from shifting from the rural to urban living.

In the next generation they had built their dreams on having their own house / flat in the city and religiously working towards the same goal. They have brought up during the changing scenario of the freedom struggle which was on nationwide invariably in most cases. In those days life would have been hard, tough and would have necessarily grinding their way to success at each step. The change that would have been seen through by them was the Green Revolution followed by the Industrial change with a series major engineering industries being set up for the growth of the country.

They would have made up their mind in giving a free hand for their children in the growing days. This saw a further change in their children wanting to have all the luxury in the beginning of their life which meant they had really being at a fast pace to meet their necessity. In the meantime the country was going through the globalization of the economy which saw change in the scenario – Recession in the Engineering field and Exponential growth in ITES (IT Enabled Services).

This had a cost built into it for the phenomenal growth that was being witnessed by us. But the companies in the country had their pound of flesh by getting their revenues in foreign currency from the developed countries. By employing just out-of-college and part-time college students in the night shifts to work in the developed countries timings, who wanted to have some extra money, they achieved their ends. These countries like USA, UK, and Australia also allowed this kind of outsourcing due to the cheap labour at which their means.
This had meant that fast money in the hands of the fresh minds of just out-of-college, some of them had the maturity to handle the same. The story of those who had lost their way are more than who handle the situation.

Most of them started to lead an extravagant style of living by way of partying our late in the nights, going pubs, discotheques and habit of drinking alcohol, cigarettes is just an indication of what all is happening.

What we have misunderstood is that we have only adapted their business for the sake of earning some good revenues. But unfortunately the young minds neither have the maturity to understand nor the mind to take advice from the elders. They simply followed their culture as well without knowing the aftermath of such practices. This kind of cultural change will affect our traditional values and rich heritage we are used to following over generations.

Even today you will come across a lot of foreigners coming to India to learn about our values of culture and practices we have maintained. Many of us thought are not even of aware of the same is sad story of the changing trends in the style of living.
