5th Annual HR Symposuim of MSSW

It was a grand gala opening to the 5th Biennial Symposium on the Technology as a enabler in HR (Human resources) which was organized by the students of Madras School of Social Work and has been sponsored by Nuveda Learning Pvt Ltd and Co-sponsored by the GRT Grand Hotel for the hospitality, at GRT Grand Hotel in Southern Crown Hall from 0900 to 1800 Hrs on 20th March 2008.
The symposium was chaired on the Dias by Mr. Bhaskar Das – Vice President (HR) in Cognizant Technology Solutions , Dr Fatima Vasanth – Principal of Madras School of Social Work , Professor Jayanthi Peter – Head of the Department MA –HRM program in Madras School of Social Work , Dr Balasubramanian Krishnan – CEO of Nuveda Learning and Mr Manish Benedict President HR Symphony.
The symposium started with the inaugural welcome to chief guest and other important dignitaries by Dr Fatima Vasanth. This was followed by the key note address by Mr Bhaskar Das which drew the attention of the meet towards the Technology as an enhancement to the HR Role. It was very enthralling session that he had presented which drove the attention of the audience which had a mix of the students as well as the corporate of various sectors of the industry. This focused on the areas of importance as the technology has made a lot of inroads in the sector of the industry which has in fact led to new areas which the erstwhile HR might fear to tread with. After which he also addressed the real time situations faced by the HR personnel in the day-to-day changing face of the world and also hinted at a few of the options that can be practiced to handle such situations, though not emphasizing on the fact that it is the final answer but one of the best solution with his experience in this field.
During this he also addressed about the types of problems that the resources are now faced with to name a few – usage of ergonomic keyboard , anti-glare screen usage, Chairs which gives protection against bad posture sitting for long hours. Also with the advent of blogs, it is also important that we should keep track of this kind to understand the issues of the resources to be addressed.
Then the dignitaries were presented with mementoes to honor their presence on the occasion. It was followed by brief video presentation of life at MSSW and students views who have graduated as well those who are pursuing their studies in the field of HR.
This was followed by a presentation by Dr. Balasubramanian Krishnan on the Learning & Technology. After the break for lunch there was a panel discussion consisting of – Adwait Hebbar – Senior VP Head –BD in ABN AMRO, Ganesh Balaji – CEO & MD Adrenalin, Asokan Pichai – CEO Head & Tech in Mafoi, Vidya Murali – Founder & Director in IRIS Consulting and Naveen Narayanan – Sr Mgr HR in Accenture.
It was enthralling days event that was concluded by a vote of thanks By Phani Kumar of HR Symphony.
