Cricket Series at Home

Another test series has begun at home, but the script does not change even after the tough tour we just completed overseas in Australia.

We do not seem to learn from our mistakes in past, by either making square turners or absolute placid pitches. We will make life difficult for the visitor’s batsmen on square turners or graveyard for bowlers of both sides.

We always on an overseas that we have not acclimatized to the conditions prevailing there and hence could not a good show in the overseas tour have been for a long time. Instead it should be the effort of the cricket board to ensure that more and more pitches are available of the international standards. On playing these kinds of lively pitches it would also benefit many youngsters who are being groomed to be at the international level in the future.

Earlier in the 70’s, we did not have the pace attack and were dependant on the famous spin trio of – Bedi , Prasanna & Chandrasekhar to do good in home as wells as overseas, who can forget the first test victory in England way back in 1971. But today we have the pace attack, it is quite mystifying to understand for the reason to make such placid pitches and kill the interest of the cricket followers as I would mildly.

It is time we took cognizance of the fact that we have pace attack and batting to handle at least at home. If we are not confident at home then what to expect on a much-hyped overseas tour on fast bouncy tracks. They also say that it is easy to wake up a person who is really sleeping, but cannot wake-up those pretend to do so. Let us hope that Cricket Board is actually sleeping and not pretending to….
